Sat, 12 May 2007 A mysterious person lives in the hills above a peaceful community of Welsh immigrants in the Appalachians Mountains of the 1850s. Cadi Forbes(Liana Liberato) is intrigued by the person who arrives at her grandmother's funeral to offer forgiveness from sin. With the help of Miz Elda(Louise Fletcher, One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine), she investigates the ostracized "sin eater," hoping to find absolution for her own sins. Along the way she meets a itinerant preacher(Henry Thomas, E.T., Cloak & Dagger, Suicide Kings) who tells her about another way to find forgiveness. Peter Wingfield(X2, Highlander: The Series[Methos!]) also stars. Michael Landon Jr.(Love's Abiding Joy) directs. Based upon the novel by Francine Rivers(Mark of the Lion).I just wanted to say that I read Mark of the Lion years and years ago, and it was actually all right. Although the plot was basically a women's romance version of Sign of the Cross(Cecil B. DeMille's 1932 epic), it was fairly entertaining. Why isn't that a movie yet? Its basically Gladiator meets The Passion(as opposed to the in development movie about Peter that has the same description). I promised a link to the IMDB forum on this film, so here it is. You can see my reply to someone who says this film is the "anti Pan's Labyrinth." For what it's worth, Pan's Labyrinth comes out on DVD this week and is awesome. See it. Music this week: Intro- Mouth like a Magazine by Showbread. Outro- Cuckoo! by Neon Horse. Edit: My cohost didn't like the original mix, so I tweaked it and re-encoded the whole thing. Let me know if you had problems, or if you think this is better. Comments[0] |
